Beauty || Top Five Summer Nail Polishes

As the summer months are upon us, I thought I'd put together my top five nail polish picks for this season. Although I can't wear nail polish to work (such a first world problem), I still absolutely love it and wear it on my days off whenever I have time!

From L to R - Mint Candy Apple, Berry Ice Cream, Blooboo, Huckleberry and Ballet Slippers.

This polish blew up the blogosphere a while ago and I just had to have it. Two years later, it's still one of my favourite nail polishes. It's such a beautiful shade of mint green that glides onto the nails beautifully. Essie's formula is flawless and only needs two coats to look opaque. Although my nails normally chip within 24 hours this lasts me a few days which is a LONG time for me to be chip free.

I've had this shade in my collection for a good few years but I still find myself reaching for it every summer. It's a lovely lilac colour that looks perfect when paired with a floaty, pastel dress. After two coats it's a completely smooth, block colour and for only £3, it's an absolute steal.

I'd actually forgotten I had this nail polish until recently when I was browsing my collection to look for something to paint my tootsies with. This colour caught my eye as it's a bright baby blue and I quickly rekindled my love for it. It's a good consistency although it does seem to chip quite easily which I've found with my other Models Own shades as well. After looking for a link for this post, I don't seem to actually be able to find this shade on the website so I think it may have been discontinued however Barry M do a shade Ice Cream Blue which looks like a good dupe (and it's cheaper) which you can find here.

Another Barry M nail paint but this time one from their Gelly Hi Shine range. This is actually the only shade I have from this range but after trying this one I may have to go back for some more. It glides on to the nail seamlessly and is a wonderful powder blue which is perfect for the pastel trend this season. As this is a thicker formula, it lasts longer than the normal nail paints and is only £1 more although I actually got this for free thanks to my trusty Boots points. Woohoo!

I purchased this after watching Vivianna Does Makeup's Essie Nail Polish Collection video and I'm so happy I did. Ballet Slippers is a beautiful neutral colour with a hint of pink that goes perfectly with sun kissed skin although if you're forever pale like me it is still flattering. Whilst being on the pricier side of nail polishes, it's definitely worth the money in my opinion as this shade is a timeless classic. The only downside is that because it's so pale it does sometimes needs three coats (such a chore *sigh*).

As you can probably tell, I'm definitely more of a pastel girl when it comes to nail polishes. I just find them to be more flattering for my skin tone than bright colours although I do love a bright red every so often. I know I said this was my top five but I couldn't make this post without adding a couple of cheeky extras (sorry not sorry for cheating).

This is probably my holy grail nail product at the moment. It's come in so handy these past few months for reviving old shades and helping make them look just that little bit more current. Such an amazing formula which glides on the nails with no fuss and sets your nails to a matte finish. If you're wanting to update your look for summer on a budget, I would definitely recommend getting this.

I'm not 100% sure what shade this is as it doesn't say anywhere on the packaging but I've looked on the website and I would guess it's Planet Pink. I honestly wasn't expecting much from this nail polish as it's only £1.99 but I was pleasantly surprised. The formulation and brush mean it's a dream to go on and although I find this a bit too 'out there' for my fingernails, this colour is fantastic for my toenails. It's a metallic pink which looks magical on the nails and is perfect for holidays when you want that added oomph to your outfit plus it's quick drying so means you don't have to wait to go out. Bonus!

Well that really is all of them now! Is there any nail polishes you think are the perfect summer colour? Let me know in the comments.
