Day Out || Home Sweet Home

Last week, after a lot of not so subtle hinting, I finally convinced Samuel to take me to Home Sweet Home in Manchester. For those of you who live a bit further afield (or have just been hiding under a rock), Home Sweet Home is an American themed cafe in the Northern Quarter of Manchester. Recently my Instagram feed has been blowing up with photos of food that looks (almost) too good to eat from this place so, of course, I had to go for myself and see if it lived up to the hype!

As it's an American themed cafe I was expecting the classic, clique diner decor inside but it's actually got a really kitsch, welcoming vibe to it which made us feel right at home as soon as we entered. Pictured above you can see some of the cute decorations that adorn the walls including my favourite one, the dog poster (obviously). As soon as I spotted the pug, I knew I was in the right place.

Now on to the main event, the food!
I had the Rancho Cucamonga Salad with added chicken and chorizo as it was a warm, summers day so I wanted to go for a fresh, lighter option. How wrong I was. This salad was absolutely massive (as you can see) and so filling I had to get Blim to finish it off for me. Whoops, my bad! Although the portion size was a little on the large side, it was still the most amazing salad I've ever tasted. It was packed with delicious, fresh ingredients and they didn't skimp on the meat which a lot of restaurants seem to do with salads, in my experience at least. It was dressed with a gorgeous tomato aioli and topped off with shredded, crispy spinach tortilla. Perfection.
Sam went for the Chilli Dog with seasoned fries which he seemed to like as he wolfed it down. Sadly though, we were both too full to try some of their amazing desserts. But silver lining, it means we have to go back again soon just for puds.

Food wise, this place is top notch but it did leave something to be desired in terms of service. It took so long for them to ask if we wanted a coffee at the end that we ended up just getting the bill and going to Starbucks instead. I know it's a relaxed atmosphere but there's chilled out and then there's just plain unobservant. However saying this, we still had a pleasant meal and it wasn't enough to put me off returning.

We then ended our day out by having a wander through Spinningfields, one of the nicer areas of Manchester, and we both had a play around with the camera.
Still getting the hang of editing so let me know what you think please, I can never tell if it's too much or not!
